Northern Australia Rock Oyster Project – Pilbara

The Pilbara component of the Northern Australia Tropical Oyster research and development project includes six trial sites across four locations in the Pilbara which will investigate optimal methods for growing Black Lip Rock Oysters and build on the knowledge gained from the original Pilbara research and development trial completed in 2019.

In addition to being a key funding partner of this project, we are providing our aquaculture expertise over the three-year project to manage the six trial sites. This will include coordinating the deployment of the hatchery-grown oysters (spat), monitoring the grow-out, managing the aquaculture infrastructure and training Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation rangers in aquaculture monitoring and management techniques.

Trial Site 1: Cossack
